The mission of the American Cancer Society is to “end cancer as we know it for everyone and improve the lives of cancer patients and their families through advocacy, research and support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer.” The American Cancer Society works with all people to fight all types of cancer. In order to support this mission, we are bringing back one of our favorite Dirksen fundraisers – Penny Wars! All of the funds raised through District 54’s service project will be used for research, prevention, cancer screenings, access to care, and guidance/support for patients and caregivers.
Dirksen’s Student Ambassadors are looking forward to a successful Penny War – one that raises money to support an important cause in the American Cancer Society, as well as involves the whole Dirksen community. SEND IN THOSE COINS starting Monday, April 14th! Penny Wars will continue through Friday, May 2nd – our donation tables are open for contributions EVERY morning when Dirksen’s doors open.
